West Michigan offers variety of events through July

WEST MICHIGAN — July is full of different events throughout West Michigan. From county fairs to library events and everything in between, there is something for everyone within a short drive from home.

July 17: Surprise Safari at the Big Rapids Community Library from 11 a.m. to noon at the library, 426 S. Michigan Ave., Big Rapids. Whispering Pines Mobile Zoo will visit the library as part of the summer reading program. The event is free.

July 19-21: Original Dulcimer Players Club Funfest, at the Osceola County Fairgrounds, 101 Recreation Ave., Evart. A variety of non-electric musical instruments are represented in addition to dulcimers. The event includes concerts, workshops and vendors all for the $15 per person general admission price. July 20: Wonder Woman Night at the Big Rapids Community Library, 426 S. Michigan Ave. Participants will make Wonder Woman origami bookmarks from 5 to 5:45 p.m., and the movie will be shown at 5:45 p.m. Event is free.

The 20th Annual Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Show by the Big Rapids Antique Tractor Club is set for Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28, at the club grounds, 15422 Old Mill Pond Road. Visitors will from tractor pulls, a bake sale and more from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Dynamite the Clown will be at the grounds from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

July 20-21: Cadillac Festival of Arts 50th Anniversary in Cadillac City Park, 190 W. Cass St. The event includes more than 100 artists, live music, food booths and more. For more information, call (231) 394-1549.

July 21: The Cadillac Garden Club will present a judged flower show at the UpNorthArts Center, 601 Chestnut St., Cadillac. The theme of the event is “Protect the Planet” and admission is free. For more information, visit Cadillacgardenclub.org

July 23-28: Isabella County Youth and Farm Fair at the Isabella County Fairgrounds, 500 N. Mission St., Mount Pleasant. The Hometown Showdown Talent Show is Monday and the Truck Demo Derby is on Friday. For more information, visit isabellacounty.org/dept/fair

July 23-28: Native Fest at the Ziibiwing Cultural Center, 6650 E. Broadway St., Mount Pleasant. A collection showing will run from July 23 to 28, Car Bingo will be July 24 and Music and Comedy Night will be July 25.
