Newaygo County Comic Con set for late October

FREMONT — Tickets are on sale now for the first Newaygo County Comic Con, hosted by Runic Forge Productions.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, artists, vendors, a game room and more will pack the Fremont Community Recreation Center, 201 E. Maple St., Fremont. An art contest for middle and high school students is scheduled to take place during the convention and judging will begin at 5 p.m.

Select special guests will make an appearance and be available for judging the art contest.

Following the convention will be a steampunk-themed mystery dinner theater from 7 to 9 p.m., hosted by Deadwood Productions, of Muskegon. Tickets for the mystery dinner theater will be an additional cost to convention.

Ten percent of proceeds from the event will be donated to a local charity, Community Closet, which provides gently used clothing, household items, children’s toys, baby gear and toiletries to community members in need.
