Big Rapids Jaycees participate in Muskegon River Voyage

Jeff Nicklas (front) and Jayna Wekenman, with the Big Rapids Jaycees, participated in the Muskegon River Voyage on Friday morning. Members from the public were invited to participate in the weekend-long journey down the river from Evart to Newaygo. Wekenman said the trip was developed as part of the Big Rapids Area River Safety project, which aims to create awareness of river hazards and encourage the safe use of the river. She added funding for the project has been provided by TransCanada Corporation and Ice Mountain. For more information on the schedule for the remainder of the trip, visit the Muskegon River Voyage Facebook page. (Pioneer photos/Taylor Fussman)
