HOLLAND — Artists in Ottawa, Allegan, Kent, Muskegon and Kalamazoo counties are invited to submit their work for the 2019 Art in Bloom artwork competition.

Presented by Tulip Time Festival official and the Holland Area Arts Council, the competition narrows submissions down for the official Tulip Time poster. Each year, the Holland Area Arts Council invites a juror to select the top 20 pieces for Art in Bloom. Kristin Jass Armstrong, Executive Director of the Saugatuck Center for the Arts, will be the 2019 juror.

Submissions for the 2019 festival artwork competition will be accepted from Sept. 29 to Oct. 4, 2018. The artwork theme should represent Tulip Time’s mission to celebrate Holland’s tulips, community and Dutch heritage, with special consideration to the 90th festival theme “join the dance as we paint the town orange!” The winner of the 2019 competition will be announced at First Bloom, a special unveiling reception in February.

Until 2011, posters were commissioned work from selected artists. Since Art in Bloom transitioned into a festival artwork competition, eight local artists’ works have been chosen to represent Tulip Time:

• 2011 — “Drama Queens” by Beth Charles

• 2012 — “Beautiful Dream” by Brittany Strabbing

• 2013 — “Clothed in Splendor” by Maggie Schultz

• 2014 — “Resilience” by Karin Nelson

• 2015 — “Joy of Spring” by Carolyn Stich

• 2016 — “Spectacle” by Alla Dickson

• 2017 — “Playful Time” by Michele Gort

• 2018 — “Together” by Cindy Awrey
