Mary’s Dream ride scheduled for Saturday

EVART — Those who want to stop domestic violence can show their support this weekend.

The 12th annual Ride Against Domestic Violence, organized by Mary’s Dream Living Without Fear and the Grey Dragons Motorcycle Association, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 11.

Mary’s Dream ride helps raise awareness and money for women’s shelters throughout the state and honors the memory of a Mount Pleasant resident who lost her life to domestic violence.

Mary Babb, an advertising representative with the Morning Sun Publishing Company, was murdered by her husband on Jan. 9, 2007, in the company parking lot in Mount Pleasant.

Registration for the ride begins at 9 a.m. at the former Morning Sun parking lot, 711 W. Pickard St., Mount Pleasant. The cost is $25 per bike. The ride begins at 11 a.m. and ends at the Community Building at the Osceola County Fair Grounds, 101 Recreation Ave., Evart.

A buffet-style lunch, open to the public, will be served at 12:30 p.m. The meal costs $9 and is not included in the registration. There also will be several raffle prizes available.
