WHITEHALL — The Big Rapids girls golf team took second place at the Whitehall Invitational on Thursday, shooting a score of 360.

The North Muskegon Norsemen took first with a 359. Hope Thebo placed third overall with a score of 82 and Payton Fuller shot a career-best 90 to place fourth and Holly McKenna (92) placed fifth. Lauren Posey (96) and Vallery Seay (97) finished seventh and tenth, respectively and Avery Chaput  placed 11th with a score of 99.

“This is the third tournament this season that we have taken second place in,” head coach Mark Posey said. “Each time we seem to just miss out by a stroke or two.  I love how the girls have a great attitude toward each other and how they go out each day trying to get a little better.”

Next up for the Cardinals is a conference match Wednesday at Tri County followed by a match on Thursday in Holt.
