Crews continue to work to restore power after storm

MECOSTA, OSCEOLA, LAKE COUNTIES — After the storm that blew through the area Tuesday evening, several hundred residents throughout Mecosta, Osceola and Lake counties still were without power on Friday.

According to Consumers Energy spokesman Roger Morgenstern, as of Friday morning there were 122 people in Mecosta County, 452 people in Osceola County and 958 people in Lake County without power.

Morgenstern added due to a large part of Lake County being rural, it can take longer to restore power to everybody.

“We are really focused on areas like Lake County because there was so much tree damage,” he said. “It is a beautiful area, but there are lots of rural areas there, which makes it hard to get through with our equipment.”

Morgenstern said Consumers Energy hoped to have power restored to everybody in the area by midnight on Friday. For updates on outages people can visit consumersenergy.com/outages/outage-center.
