CADILLAC — Big Rapids tied Cadillac, 4-4 in a dual match in Cadillac on Tuesday.

In singles for Big Rapids, Michael Steffens (No. 1) defeated Jack Schmittdiel 6-4, 6-0; Nathan Seaman (No. 2) beat Braeden Lundquist 6-2, 6-3; Joseph Mills (No. 3) lost to Fisher Moore 6-1, 6-2 and Varun Piram (No. 4) lost to Cole Crisman 6-1, 6-3.

For Big Rapids in doubles, Jonah Weber/Spencer Olen (No. 1) lost to Aiden Raffaele/Brian Geiger 7-6(4), 6-4; Tyler Bigford/Owen Bomay (No. 2) fell to Austin Kailing/Nathan Moore 6-4, 7-6(7); Bryce Courtright/Alex Dubowski (No. 3) defeated Gavin Foster/Login Collins 6-2, 6-4 and Waylon Dunkel/Jacob McLeod (No. 40 defeats Derek Tonello/John McKnight 5-7, 6-3, 10-3

Big Rapids will be at the Ludington Quad on Saturday.

McBain Northern Michigan Christian 7, Crossroads 3

MCBAIN — Crossroads fell to 0-4 overall with a 7-3 loss to McBain Northern Michigan Christian on Tuesday in Northern Michigan Soccer League action. Crossroads is 0-3 in the league.

Josh Hunt scored his first goal of the season on a corner kick from Dawson Soller. Soller also assisted on goals from Tyler Omo.

Crossroads is home on Thursday against Pine River.

Houghton Lake 11, Pine River 3

HOUGHTON — Pine River trailed 5-1 at halftime. Ethan Underhill scored with 15:04 to go in the first half. Jake Johnson had two goals, seven shots and three blocks/steals, Ethan Underhill had one goal and four shots, Hunter Ashcroft had one shot and five block/steals, Caleb Mitchell one shot and 13 block/steals and Hunter Poe four block/steals.

Tyler Lindquist had 11 block/steals, Molly Holmes four block/steals, Bryce Wansted one shot and five block/steals and Maverick Boerma had three block/steals.

Pine River is 0-3 on the season.

CROSS COUNTRY

Morley Stanwood in CSAA Silver meet

Morley Stanwood’a cross county team made its Central State Activities Association Silver Division season debut on Tuesday at Lakeview.

The Morley Stanwood boys were fourth with 89, but had the medalist with Aiden McLaughlin clocking the course in 18:05.44. Kent City was first with 36.

Also for Morley Stanwood. Josh McNeil was 12th (21:42.66), Riley Pritchard 19th (23:53.09), Owen Devereaux 26th (25:10.01) and Jon Karel 35th (27:18.97).

The Morley Stanwood girls finished third at 73, behind Kent City (24) and White Cloud (63)

For the Mohawks, Dreea Atchison was fourth (22:52.79), Aivery Devereaux ninth (25:54.82), Delaney McLaughlin 19th (28:21.96), Alaylah Atchison 22nd (29:17.24) and Matalyn Rorabaugh 26th (30:54.60).

VOLLEYBALL

Fremont 3, Reed City 2

REED CITY — Fremont defeated Reed City 15-5 in the fifth and decisive match for a 3-2 win in Tuesday CSAA action.

Fremont won the first game 25-13 but won the next two 25-17, 25-19. But the Packers took the last two 25-6, 15-5.

For Reed City, Jenna Johnson had two blocks, Mady Brown had three kills and 10 digs, Kamryn Myers had 12 digs, Claudia Francke had seven digs and 27 assists, Maddie Morgan had six digs, Katelynn Holmes had two aces and nine digs, McKenzie Wein had five kills and 10 digs, Demi Lodholtz had six kills and three aces and Alison Duddles had 11 kills and five digs.

Morley Stanwood 3, Kent City 0

MORLEY — Morley Stanwood improved to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in the Central State Activities Association Silver Division with a 25-12, 25-21, 25-19 win over Kent City on Wednesday.

“The gym was super warm,” Morley Stanwood coach Robin Kozuch said. “They came out and did well in the first set. Kent City picked up their game a bit. It was a win and we didn’t lose a set. One of our goals is to not lose a set in the league.”

The Mohawks play at the Mount Pleasant Invitational.

Beal City 3, Pine River 0

BEAL CITY — The Bucks lost Tuesday in Highland Conference action 25-17, 25-11, 25-13. Emma Whitley had seven kills and 13 digs. Parker Moores had four kills and nine digs and Sophie Johnson added 13 assists.

“We came out very sluggish and just never pulled it together,” Pine River coach Jana Dennis said. “It was very obvious that we have not had a practice in a few days due to power outages and Labor Day weekend. Now we focus on rising up from that setback and growing as a team.”

Pine River is 6-7-1.

Lake City 3, Evart 1

Evart won its first game 27-25 against Lake City on Tuesday but then lost 25-23 25-25 and 25-15.

McKenzie Kimball had six kills and 18 assists for Evart, Livia Hopkins had six kills and three aces, Laura Henry had six kills and three blocks, Angel Porter had five kills and one block, McKenzie Barnett had four kills and Kaylee Ladd had three aces.

Chippewa Hills 3, Newaygo 1

REMUS — Chippewa Hills won in four games over Newaygo in CSAA Gold action on Tuesday.

Chippewa Hills won 28-26 in the second game after being down 24-17. The Warriors won 25-12 in the final game.

“One of our girls (Ali Jones) served 14 points in a row,” coach Hali Williams said. “That was a significant help.”

Jones led the Warriors in serving.
