MECOSTA — A night of sweets, drinks and prizes is set to support the Morton Township Library on Friday.

The annual Champagne and Chocolate Gala, the library’s largest fundraiser according to a press release, will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at 110 S. James St, in Mecosta.

Live music will play as attendees enjoy cheese and crackers, homemade specialty chocolates, champagne, mimosas and sparkling juice, the release said. Attendees can bid on more than 70 silent auction items, which were donated by different businesses and individuals.

This year’s live auction will feature a golf package, Stihl blower, a Vera Bradley duffel bag and purses, football tickets to see the University of Michigan play against Indiana, tickets to see Brian Wilson and more. There also will be a lucky draw this year.

“The gala is an elegant evening of exploring the library after hours and mingling with library supporters,” Morton Township Library Director Mary Ann Lenon said in the release.

Proceeds from the gala are used to support Morton Township Library programs and enhance library offerings to the surrounding community. According to the release, more than 200 guests raised $10,000 during last year’s event.

Tickets for this year’s gala are on sale now at the library or at Flair for Hair in Canadian Lakes. Advance tickets are $20 each; at the door, admission will be $25.
