Kent County deputies arrest one of two MRYH escapees

GRAND RAPIDS — One of two juveniles who escaped from an Osceola County juvenile detention center is in custody following a breaking an entering in Grand Rapids lat week.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are investigating a breaking and entering complaint at Repocast, located at 601 Gordon Industrial Court SW, Byron Township on Sept. 2. Several suspects broke in to the business and stole multiple hand guns.

Detectives were able to identify two juvenile suspects, who earlier had escaped from the Muskegon River Youth Home in Osceola County. The investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed on a residence in the 900 block of Kalamazoo Avenue SE in the City of Grand Rapids. A 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody there.

A second search warrant was executed on Grand Rapids SE side last night where an additional 16-year-old juvenile and a 23-year-old male were taken into custody on firearms related charges.

A 15-year-old escapee of the detention center is believed to still be at large and believed to be in the Grand Rapids area.

Only a small number of the guns have been recovered.

The investigation is ongoing.
