POLICE BLOTTER: Officers investigate domestic assault; assist Ferris DPS

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls Tuesday and Wednesday. All calls might not be reported.

Tuesday

• Officers performed morning school details at 7:56 a.m.

• Police performed an area check at 8:19 a.m. on the 600 block of Linden Street. A woman thought she may have seen a man who has a trespassing order walking near the property. Police were unable to locate the man.

• At 9:02 a.m., officers responded to a traffic crash at State and Cedar streets. The at-fault driver was cited for failing to yield.

• A traffic crash occurred at 9:10 a.m. at State and Cedar streets. The at-fault driver was cited for violating basic speed laws.

• Officers were called at 9:19 a.m. for an individual involved in an alleged domestic assault. The incident was found to have happened in Sears. Information was turned over to the Michigan State Police for investigation.

• At 11:06 a.m., police were called to a retail fraud complaint on the 600 block of Maple Street. Two juveniles were found to have stolen some items the evening before. The incident remains under investigation.

• Officers performed an area check at 2:50 p.m. on the 600 block of South Warren Avenue for speeding vehicles. Officers were unable to locate the vehicles in question.

• Police assisted the Ferris State University Department of Public Safety at 8:35 p.m. for a report of two men assaulting another man. Police assisted in locating the men and stood by for officer safety.

• A traffic stop at 11:16 p.m. on the 200 block of Baldwin Street led to a 22-year-old woman being cited for driving without a license.

• Officers responded to a noise complaint at 11:45 p.m. on the 100 block of South Michigan Avenue.

Wednesday

• A traffic stop at 2:08 a.m. on the 600 block of South State resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old man for operating while intoxicated.
