Three injured in Friday afternoon crash

GRANT TWP. — Three people suffered minor injuries in a two-car crash Friday afternoon in Grant Township.

According to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at 2:32 p.m. to 160th Avenue and 21 Mile Road in northern Mecosta County. Upon investigation, deputies found a 73-year-old Reed City woman was driving east on 21 Mile Road and failed to stop at the stop sign. She struck a vehicle, driven by an 80-year-old Big Rapids man, which was heading south on 160th Avenue.

The Big Rapids man and his passenger, a 79-year-old woman, were taken by Mecosta County EMS to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital. The Reed City woman drove to Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital in her vehicle to be checked out for minor injuries.

Deputies also were assisted by fire and rescue personnel from the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety.
