Sixth-graders learn by creating tasty treats

Chippewa Hills Intermediate School sixth-graders celebrated the turning of the season through a hands-on lesson in simple machines on Monday. Throughout the morning, students in Zach Hatfield’s science class made apple cider using a grinder and press. Students were tasked with identifying any pulleys, screws, wheels and axles, wedges, inclined planes or levers they could find and were later treated to a sample of freshly made cider.
