POLICE BLOTTER: Traffic stops lead to multiple citations

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls Thursday. All calls might not be reported.

• At 8 a.m., officers began school safety details.

• DPS officers assisted another agency at 8:08 a.m. on the 300 block of Warren Avenue.

• A found wallet was returned at 8:15 a.m.

• At 9:18 a.m., officers assisted a resident on the 400 block of West Bellevue Street.

• Police assisted with a civil situation at 9:47 a.m. on the 400 block of North Michigan Avenue.

• Officers were dispatched at 10:17 a.m. to a suspicious situation on the 400 block of South Stewart Avenue.

• At 12:54 p.m., police responded to a suspicious situation on the 400 block of North Bronson Avenue. A woman thought she was being followed to work.

• There was a civil situation at 12:45 p.m. at Clark Street and Woodward Avenue.

• Officers recorded a fraud complaint at 1:12 p.m. on the 600 block of Winter Avenue. The victim had her Wayfair account hacked.

• At 3:06 p.m., police responded to a traffic crash on the 500 block of Willow Avenue.

• Officers performed an area check at 3:53 p.m. for a woman screaming at Northend Riverside Park. The call turned out to be for a park in Osceola County.

• Police were dispatched to a domestic situation at 4:12 p.m. on the 700 block of Locust Street. A man was in violation of a no contact order when he went with the woman to the OB/GYN. The man got mad at the woman’s 3-year-old child and was seen cursing and throwing the child into the car twice. The man was informed he was in violation of his conditional bond order.

• Officers were called to the 800 block of Marion Avenue for a tenant who arrived home to find the garage’s side door ajar. Everything was OK.

• Police provided standby for a Michigan State Police traffic stop on the 1000 block of South State Street.

• A traffic stop on the 100 block of South Michigan resulted in a 37-year-old woman being cited for improper license plate and driving without insurance. During an inventory search, marijuana was located. A 46-year-old man was cited for possession of marijuana.

• Officers responded to a civil dispute on the 100 block of North Stewart.

• Police responded to the 100 block of South Michigan for an apartment tenant who called in a noise complaint for patrons being too loud. Police observed hardly anyone outside and nobody was yelling.

• During a traffic stop at Sanborn Avenue and State, a 37-year-old man was cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license and having no insurance. The man was lodged at the Mecosta County Jail for a warrant for failing to appear from Newaygo County.
