REED CITY — Members of Ferris State University’s corporate and professional development department recently completed extensive training for Reed City Group in injection molding technology.

Reed City Group is an innovative and growing turn-key injection molding company based in Reed City. Through Michigan’s Skilled Trade Training Fund, several employees learned the basics of plastic materials, injection molds, injection molding machines and identifying plastic part defects.

“The Reed City Group employees engaged in numerous activities and should be proud of their accomplishments as a result of completing this rigorous training. Their newly acquired understanding of technologies and processes will result in improved quality and productivity,” said Stephen Wolfer, FSU professor in the plastics and rubber department and trainer for this course.

Reed City Group Human Resource Manager Tracie Ruppert and Production Manager Clinten Weck had a firm understanding of the needs of their employees and were instrumental in assisting with the outline of the course.

“It was great to have Ferris State partner with a local company”, said FSU Corporate and Professional Development’s Project Manager Shanee Ramsey, who coordinated the efforts between the two organizations.
