STANWOOD —  The Big Rapids Cardinals won the Lady Tullymore Invitational on Monday by four strokes over the Division 4, No. 5-ranked Kalamazoo Hackett Leprechauns and by eight over the No. 6 St. Louis Sharks.

The Cardinals shot a 374.  Hope Thebo came in second overall with an 88 and Lauren Posey took third with a 90.  Holly McKenna took sixth with a 96 while Avery Chaput took 12th with an even 100.

Payton Fuller shot 111 and Kiali Stout shot 125.

“We challenged the girls today to believe in themselves and have confidence in the work they have put in this season,” head coach Mark Posey said. “I thought they really showed that in times of adversity in their rounds.   We have been second in four other tournaments this year, so it was a goal to get win.

“They need to develop that confidence if they are going to achieve our goals at the regional and state championship.”

The girls are back in action again on Friday at the Ludington Invite.
