Veterans honored with annual FSU breakfast

Veterans filed into the University Center ballroom at Ferris State University to enjoy a meal and camaraderie during the school’s annual breakfast on Monday. FSU President David Eisler (right) visited tables before the ceremony started, speaking to the veterans in attendance, including John Emmons (left), of Big Rapids. After a presentation of the Missing man Table, attendees were introduced to this year’s guest speakers Lt. Col. Ravindra Wagh, a battalion commander with the Michigan Army National Guard. (Pioneer photos/Meghan Gunther-Haas)

“Ferris will always hold a special place in our hearts,” Wagh said, noting he was the commander over the service men and women who deployed from Big Rapids in 2006. “I am immensely proud of their devotion and spirit. It’s important to remember that our veterans worked 365 days a year. Their sacrifice gave us the freedoms we have today.”
