Mecosta man drowns in Chippewa Lake

CHIPPEWA LAKE — A Mecosta man is dead after drowning in Chippewa Lake Monday afternoon.

According to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth Allen Roebuck, 66, was swimming near the southern portion of the lake when a potential medical issue caused him to go under in approximately four feet of water.

Nearby swimmers saw Roebuck having difficulties and retrieved him from the water.

Attempts at CPR were unsuccessful, and Roebuck was pronounced dead at the scene by Mecosta County EMS.

Deputies were assisted by Mecosta County EMS, Fork Township Rescue and the Mecosta County medical examiner.
