Adams set to have strong season for Reed City

REED CITY — Jaxsen Adams, is a senior looking to make key contributions for Reed City’s varsity football team this season.

This will be his second full season.

He’s a defensive safety and offensive receiver-running back, who didn’t see first-string action a year ago, but is looking forward to that opportunity in 2019.

As a safety, his strength “is definitely my speed and I can jump really good too. Being fast really helps a lot,” Adams said, adding his strengths on offense are “being able to go up and grab a ball as a receiver. I’ll be wherever coach needs me.”

Adams attended 100 percent of Reed City’s summer football activities and feels it was time well spent.

“It’s a valuable thing for our team,” he said.

Reed City scrimmages at Cadillac on Aug. 22 and is at Montague on Aug. 29.

“It’s a little too early to tell,” Adams said. “I’m confident in my coaches. They’re new coaches but they’ve been coaching football a long time.”

Scott Shankel has been on the staff for many years but is in his first season as head coach.

“I’m looking for big things from Jaxsen,” Shankel said. “He’s had a great summer. He’s working hard. I’m looking for him to have good year.”
