May 22

  • An officer was dispatched to a larceny complaint. The officer took a statement from the victim and collected evidence from the scene. The complaint remains open at this time.
  • An officer was dispatched to a malicious destruction of property complaint. The officer investigated the scene, and the complaint remains open at this time.
  • An officer was dispatched to a dog at large complaint. The officer notified the owner where their dog was located and they picked it up from that location. The owner was given a verbal warning for the offense, and advised they would be cited for any subsequent offense.

May 23

  • An officer investigated a dangerous building complaint. A notice was sent to the owner of the building advising them to correct the violations or remove the building. The complaint remains open at this time.
  • An officer was dispatched to an assault complaint. The complaint remains open at this time.
  • An officer was dispatched to investigate a two-vehicle property damage accident.

May 25

  • An officer was dispatched to a phone harassment complaint. The officer received statements from the complainant and victim, and the phone was collected by the officer to obtain evidence from it. The complaint remains open at this time.
  • An officer was dispatched to assist Children’s Protective Services with a complaint they received.
  • An officer was called to a residence regarding a subject wanted for a Tennessee Sex Offender Registration violation. The officer made contact with that subject, and took them into custody on the warrant. The subject was transported to the Osceola County Jail and awaits extradition to Tennessee.

May 26

  • An officer was dispatched to an assault complaint. The officer investigated the complaint and no charges were pursued by the victim.
  • An officer was advised of a subject who had a warrant for their arrest. The officer located the subject and took them into custody. The subject was transported to the Osceola County Jail.

May 27

  • An officer was dispatched to a harassment complaint. The officer took a statement from the victim, and the complaint remains open at this time.
  • An officer was dispatched to investigate a private property damage accident.

May 28

  • An officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. While investigating the stop the officer determined the subject was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. The subject was arrested for the offense, and transported to the Osceola County Jail.

Please be aware that it is a Reed City Ordinance Violation to leave your grass clippings in the street after mowing the lawn. Please be sure to clean the debris out of the street, violators will be subject to an ordinance citation. Officers continue to perform property inspections and serve the appropriate abatement paperwork for those in violation of the Reed City Ordinances for tall grass, trash and vehicles though out the week. The School Liaison Officer has been diligently keeping track of several at risk students regarding their attendance. Keeping in contact with school staff and the parents and submitting petitions for truancy request as required.

May 22

  • Officers arrested a 29-year-old female who held a bench warrant failure to appear for arraignment. She also was charged with driving without an operator’s license and possession of marijuana. She was transported to and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers were dispatched to local residence regarding a domestic assault. The responding officers arrested the 21-year-old female and her 22-year-old ex-boyfriend on domestic assault charges. They were both transported to and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers were requested to respond to the parole office and take an 18-year-old male into custody on a parole detainer. He was transported to the Osceola County Jail and lodged without incident.
  • While on a traffic stop, officers arrested a 53-year-old female for and outstanding warrant and having a suspended operator’s license. She was lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident and the vehicle was towed.
  • Officers were requested to take a larceny from a vehicle complaint. The complainant reported having a medication stolen from her unlocked vehicle during the night.

May 23

  • While out on foot patrol, officers found the back door to a local business unlocked. Officers searched the building, notified the key holder and secured the doors.

May 24

  • Officers were dispatched to local residence regarding a personal protection order violation. Officers were able to confirm that the PPO was in effect and the complainant receiving the text messages was indeed the protected person. Officers submitted a copy of the report to the 20th Circuit Court in Grand Haven, where the PPO was issued, for review for possible charges.
  • Officers were dispatched to local apartment complex regarding a juvenile that had been instructed to go to bed. Instead the boy ran out the door, jumped on his bike and rode off down the street. Officers located the boy a short time later and transported him back home.
  • Officers received a complaint regarding the larceny of a Fidget Spinner. The Fidget Spinner was found to have been taken by a juvenile and returned by his mother. The juvenile has repeatedly taken things that do not belong to him, so it has been determined the best course of action would be to submit a petition request for larceny to the probate court.
  • Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle personal property damage accident. No injuries were report.
  • Officers located and arrested an 18-year-old male on who held a felony carrying concealed weapon warrant. He was transported to and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.

May 25

  • Officer received a mental health call regarding a patient that who cancelled his appointment and was refusing to reschedule. The employee stated they were concerned as to his well being. The appropriate paperwork was filed for a court ordered mental health evaluation and faxed over to the department. Officers went to the individual’s where he agreed to be transported to the Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital emergency room for an evaluation.
  • Officers were dispatched to the Michigan Works! building regarding an intoxicated and disorderly male who came in with his dog and began swearing obscenities, when requested to take the dog outside. Realizing the police had been called the man had left before they arrived. The man returned later that day in a change of clothes, and even more intoxicated and disorderly with the staff. Officers were notified and the 57-year-old man was placed under arrest and transported to the Osceola County Jail where he was lodged on two counts of disorderly conduct and served with no trespass papers.

May 26

  • While performing a traffic stop for an expired registration, officers arrested a 33-year-old male for operating the vehicle without an operator’s license or Insurance. He given a warning on the expired registration and the vehicle towed. He was then transported to the Osceola County Jail where he was lodged without incident.
  • A female called 911 and requested a police officer to her residence. She had guardianship over her grandchild because her son was incarcerated. She stated the child’s mother was at the house to pick up the child as it was her visitation weekend. The woman stated that she didn’t want to allow the child to go with the mother for the weekend. The responding officer explained that this was a civil issue and to contact the court. An agreement was come to that allowed the mother visitation.

May 27

  • Officers were dispatched to local apartment complex regarding a possible domestic assault in process. Neighbors reported hearing an argument and a woman call out for help. Officers spoke with the 57-year-old female and the 56-year-old male, who both admitted to having been drinking earlier and that they had been arguing, but the man denied any physical contact. The women told officers he was physical in using force to keep her from leaving his apartment and when she tried to call 911 he broke her phone. The man was placed under arrest for domestic assault and destruction of a 911 device. He was transported to the Osceola County Jail and lodged with out incident.
  • Meceola Central Dispatch received a 911 hang up call in the middle of the night, and requested an officer respond to the suspicious situation. Officer spoke with a member of the residence who was unaware any reason anyone in the home would have called and stated they were all sleeping. The officers checked the surrounding homes and didn’t find anything out of place.

May 28

  • While performing a traffic stop for an expired registration, officers arrested a 33-year-old male for operating the vehicle without an operator’s license or Insurance. He given a warning on the expired registration and the vehicle towed. He was then transported to the Osceola County Jail where he was lodged without incident.
  • Officers responded to a two-car accident with minor injuries.
