Pine River defeats Morley Stanwod

LEROY — The Bucks overcame a halftime deficit to edge the Mohawks at home 47-4o on Dec. 1.

Morley Stanwood’s Brooke Brauher led all scorers with 16 points and added six rebounds. Sadie Parker had eight points and six rebounds and Breanna Berry tallied seven points and seven rebounds.

Logan Powell led Pine River with 14 points and KayLee Goodman added 12. Selma Barnett led the team with eight rebounds.

Morley Stanwood led 21-19 at the half, but the Bucks went to a zone defense that took the Mohawks out of rhythm, and allowed the Bucks to make a comeback.

“Brooke took control in the first half on the inside,” Morley Stanwood coach Rob Brauher said.

“They went with a 1-3-1 zone after halftime and we went to sleep. We stopped moving the ball. We couldn’t move quickly and we couldn’t react.”

“We pushed the ball really well,” Pine River coach Brandon Bowman said. “The effort was tremendous. Defensively we changed up our defense at halftime and were able to shut things down low.”
