Churches announce Christmas season services

OSCEOLA/MECOSTA COUNTIES — Area churches invite anyone and everyone to come share in their services for the Christmas season.

If your church has not sent service information, there is still time to submit it for publication. Service information will be run again on Dec. 20. Saturday, Dec. 16

• 6 p.m., Saturday night service at Resurrection Life Church Big Rapids, 14734 215th Ave., Big Rapids.

Sunday, Dec. 17

• 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., worship services at Resurrection Life Church Big Rapids, 14734 215th Ave., Big Rapids.

• 10:15 a.m., Lighting of the Advent Wreath and Holy Communion at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 323 S. State St., Big Rapids. Greening of the church to follow the service.

• 6 p.m., Christmas program at Marion Baptist Church, 19909 40th Ave., Marion. Author, publisher and director Peggy Hoard is presenting a comedy “No Room in the Stable.” Attendees will discover how the camels, sheep, horses, cow and donkey bring the true meaning of Christmas to life. Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and a host of angels will attend. Refreshments will follow with treat sacks for the children.

• 7:30 p.m., Live Nativity at Hersey United Methodist Church, 200 W. 2nd St., Hersey. Cocoa and cookies will be available following the live Nativity.

Monday, Dec. 18

• 6 to 9 p.m., Silent Night at Hersey United Methodist Church, 200 W. 2nd St., Hersey. The church will be open for anyone to come for personal reflection time and a place of quiet during Christmas preparations. Attendees may stay as little or as long as they feel a need.

Tuesday, Dec. 19

• 6 to 9 p.m., Silent Night at Hersey United Methodist Church, 200 W. 2nd St., Hersey. The church will be open for anyone to come for personal reflection time and a place of quiet during Christmas preparations. Attendees may stay as little or as long as they feel a need.

Wednesday, Dec. 20

• 6 to 9 p.m., Silent Night at Hersey United Methodist Church, 200 W. 2nd St., Hersey. The church will be open for anyone to come for personal reflection time and a place of quiet during Christmas preparations. Attendees may stay as little or as long as they feel a need.

Thursday, Dec. 21

Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24

• 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., traditional Christmas services; 6 p.m., Christmas Eve service at Resurrection Life Church Big Rapids, 14734 215th Ave., Big Rapids.

• 9:30 a.m., regular Sunday worship; 4 p.m., Family service/Youth Christmas pageant; 9 p.m., Candlelight service at the United Church of Big Rapids, 120 S. State St., Big Rapids. The regular Sunday service will be simulcast on WWBR FM 100.9. The afternoon family service welcomes attendees of all ages. This year’s pageant is a live Nativity scene with readings and special music. The candlelight service will include scripture readings, a hymn sing and special music. This service also will be broadcast on WWBR FM 100.9.

• 10 a.m., Christmas Eve morning service; 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service at Woodville Community Church, 6206 N. Pine Ave., White Cloud. For the fourth Sunday in Advent, the morning service will be “Glory to God … and Peace to Man.” In the evening, the service will be “The Spirit of Christmas Future.”

• 10:15 a.m., Lighting of the Advent Wreath and Holy Communion; 6:30 p.m. seasonal music; 7 p.m. Christmas Festal Communion at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 323 S. State St., Big Rapids.

• 10:15 a.m., Sunday morning worship; 11 p.m. Candlelight communion service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 18022 Northland Drive, Big Rapids.

• 10:30 a.m., regular worship service; 7 p.m., Christmas Eve worship service at Evart United Methodist Church, 619 N. Cherry St., Evart.

• 5 p.m., Christmas Eve Vigil Mass, St. Mary Catholic Church, 1009 Marion Ave., Big Rapids.

• 7 p.m., Christmas Eve service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 12775 Northland Drive, Big Rapids.

• 7:30 p.m., Christmas Eve candlelight service at Hersey United Methodist Church, 200 W. 2nd St., Hersey.

Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25

• 8:30 a.m., caroling; 9 a.m., Mass at St. Paul Campus Church, 1 Damascus Road, Big Rapids.

• 10:15 a.m., Service of Morning Prayer as used in The New Zealand Prayer Book at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 323 S. State St., Big Rapids. This is an opportunity for those who want to slow down and reflect on Christmas, were unable to attend a Christmas Eve service, or just need community on this day, to worship.

New Year’s Eve, Sunday, Dec. 31

• 10:15 a.m., Holy Communion for the First Sunday of Christmas at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 323 S. State St., Big Rapids.

New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1

• 9 a.m., Mass for Solemnity of Mary Holy Mother of God at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1009 Marion Ave., Big Rapids.
