Harrison having huge season

Taylor Harrison

REED CITY — Taylor Harrison made strides as a Reed City girls basketball freshman, but has really been coming on for the 7-0 Coyotes as a sophomore.

Last season was a learning experience for Harrison, but also productive.

“It was fun,” she said. “It was a little hard for me being a freshman, but it was nice.”

The speed and physicalness of the varsity game presented plenty of challenges that Harrison faced. She’s seeing even more playing time this season.

She has been scoring points in sparking the Coyote offense.

“They want me to shoot more this year,” she said. “It’s been good.”’

Harrison has had success shooting inside, especially 10-footers. Getting good passes is important and Harrison said she tries to use good form when shooting.

She’s also been focusing on good dribbling and passing and indicated the team has done well breaking the press.

“My defense has been pretty good,” she said.

Reed City returned to action on Tuesday at Tri County in Central State Activities Association Gold Division play.

“We’re good as a team,” Harrison said. “We’re working together.”

The team’s confidence is high, Harrison added, which will give the team some momentum in upcoming games, against other conference powers like Central Montcalm and Big Rapids.
