Evart coach having strong summer of fishing

Paul Higgins

EVART — Paul Higgins is keeping busy this summer with basketball and fishing.

The Evart resident, as a coach, is working with his players during the summer to get ready for next year.

“We went to Central Michigan for a day on Saturday and scrimmaged four teams down here,” Higgins said. “We went to Central Montcalm last Friday and scrimmaged over there. We were at Morey Courts last Tuesday and Thursday.”

The Wildcats have had a variety of numbers at the workouts.

“For the most part, we’ve been going with eight,” Higgins said. “It’s summer. Everybody fights the same battle.”

It’s mostly varsity players he’s working with along with a couple of JV girls.

Higgins also has been busy with summer fishing.

“Early on, we were doing pretty good, me and my boy,” Higgins said. “The past couple of weeks, we’ve been busy. We went out yesterday and caught some walleye. I’ve had a good year. I’ve done good on Lake Cadillac.”
