Reed City fourth

GRANT — Fremont won the final boys and girls meet in Central State Activities Association Gold Division action on Tuesday, Oct. 16

Fremont wound up sharing the girls title with Chippewa Hills and the Packers won the boys division with Big Rapids taking second.

Fremont’s girls had a 45 to top Chippewa Hills with a 53. Big Rapids (61) was third and Reed City fourth (97).

Megan Langworthy of Big Rapids was the individual girls champion (19:06.94).

For Reed City, Abbigail Kianunis was eighth (20:14.44), Taylor Harrison 13th (20:53.65), Paige Lofquist 21st (21:58.21). Brooke Miller 31st (22:45.64) and Leigha Johnson 32nd (22:48.64).

For the boys final standings, Fremont was first, Big Rapids second, Grant third, and Reed City and Tri County tied for fourth.

In the boys race, Fremont had a 28, followed by Big Rapids at 58. Reed City was fifth at 121 and Chippewa Hills seventh at 183.

Brandon Worth led Reed City in fourth (16:43.69). Calvin Rohde was 12th (17:20.70), Noah Blythe 26th (18:31.12). Jared Karns 46th (19:36.42) and Ryan Simmons 58th (20:36.57).

VOLLEYBALL

NMC 3, Pine River 2

LEROY — The Bucks lost to McBain NMC in five sets 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-10. Emma Whitley had 18 kills and 17 digs.

Parker Moores had eight kills and 12 digs and Sophie Johnson had 25 assists and 16 digs.

“We just couldn’t get in a rhythm all night,” Pine River coach Jana Dennis said. “We would get a few little runs and then allowed them to close the gaps with our mistakes. NMC did a good job at keeping us on our toes.”

Next up on Wednesday is a quad at home.
