Fourth Annual Paint the Town Pink event to raise funds for local breast health services

MANISTEE — Area residents are encouraged to ‘Get Pink’d’ and join the fight against breast cancer when the West Shore Healthcare Foundation holds its fourth annual Paint the Town Pink Ribbon Walk on Thursday, Oct. 6 in downtown Manistee.

Hooded sweatshirts in hot pink or black will be sold at West Shore Medical Center’s Radiology Department and at locations around Manistee beginning Sept. 23 and will also be available at the event. Pink Ribbon cards will be sold at the hospital and at several Manistee County gas stations between Oct. 1 and 14.

The Pink Ribbon Walk is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. All proceeds from Paint the Town Pink events support West Shore Medical Center’s commitment to local breast health services.

On the 6th, gathering for Paint the Town Pink will begin at 4 p.m. near the fountain at the west end of River Street. A brief ceremony and recognition of breast cancer survivors will be held at 5 p.m., and then there will be a one-mile walk. The route travels along the River Walk to the U.S. 31 Memorial Bridge and then returns to the start point via River Street.

Local businesses will be decorating storefronts in pink and offering discounts or specials in honor of Paint the Town Pink. Additional information about merchant specials will be provided at the event and will be available at the website www.westshoremedenter.org and on the hospital’s facebook page.

Businesses are invited to offer “pit stops” along the ribbon walk route to hand out giveaways or coupons. Those wishing to host a pit stop should contact Paint the Town Pink co-chairs Nancy Day at (231) 887-4066 or Julie Raymond at (231) 510-8533.
