Civic Players meet

The annual meeting of the Manistee Civic Players was held Wednesday at the Ramsdell Theatre. Members of the board of directors were elected, finances were reviewed, Board President Ben Hengy gave a report on the past year and the current need for volunteers, and the shows in the upcoming season were announced.

The civic players will close out the current season with the production of “A Christmas Carol” that opens during Sleighbell weekend, running Dec. 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11. The season next year includes “The Dining Room” March 9-18, “Li’l Abner” June 29-July 8, “Glass Menagerie” Aug. 10-19; “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Oct. 12-21; and “White Christmas” Nov. 30-Dec. 9.

Also in 2012 the civic players will present two children’s shows — “The Dullsville Mystery” Sept. 7-8 and “Cinderella Wore Combat Boots” Feb. 3-4.
