NEW PROGRAM BEING OFFERED

The Manistee Community Kitchen “Local Food Share” program in coordination with the Manistee Senior Center (M.C.C.O.A.) will start to deliver fresh produce and vegetables once a month. Each month different items will be offered depending what is in season at the time. Much of it will be from local farmer’s or at least all grown in our country. The boxes will be 25 or more pounds and cost $20.00 each.

We will need at least 10 families or single participants each month in order for our senior center to be a drop off site. All orders will be taken on the Thursday of the week prior to distribution. They must be paid for in advance by, cash, check, credit card or bridge cards are accepted. If using a credit card or bridge card we must know in advance so the Manistee Community Kitchen can schedule a two-hour appointment time at our site the week prior to delivery to swipe the credit or bridge cards for customers at that time. Any families on food assistance, dollars will be matched resulting in a box costing just $10.

Remember you will be required to sign up a week in advance for your box and payment due at signing up and all boxes will be brought to the site where you signed up at, on the fourth Thursday of the month. A receipt will be provided to you when you come and sign up and pay for your box ahead of time. Checks will need to be made out to the Manistee Community Kitchen. Nutrition education will be provided and some on-site cooking demonstrations will also be available. We will be able to start this program  in May.

So call ahead to see if we have anymore information on the start date, and you will need to sign up with us if this is going to be your pick-up point.  So call 231-723-6477.
