BENZONIA — Thanks to six grocery stores, 12 churches, 40 individuals, two service clubs, two scout troops and a U.S. Coast Guard crew, Benzie Area Christian Neighbors’ (BACN) fall food drive was a big success.

Over 8,000 pounds of food was generated along with $1,697.12 in cash.

“This year’s drive generated food and cash to cover an entire month’s supply for the pantry,” said Michelle Northrup, coordinator of volunteers for the drive. “A number of volunteers found their two hour shift was a very rewarding experience.”

BACN volunteers are planning a February food drive to be titled “Chase The Chill.” Further information on how to volunteer for that food drive and about BACN is available by contacting Northrup at or call (231) 882-9544.
