Teaching the youngest musicians

The Music After School Program presented its fall semester “Just Sing, Just Play” performance Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Manistee United Methodist Church. According to the program’s director, Joy Smith, “Just Sing, Just Play” is an interaction in a spirit of play utilized to help children become more aware of pitch, rhythm, form and nuance — skills that will lead to mastery of musical abilities such as reading music, playing an instrument and singing in a choir.
