Snyder appoints Grosse Pointer to Wayne State board

Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed David Nicholson of Grosse Pointe Farms to the Wayne State University Board of Governors.

Nicholson replaces Danialle Karmanos, who resigned to spend more time with her family.

WSU board members are elected in a statewide election. However, when one resigns during their term, it’s the governor’s responsibility to appoint a replacement.

Nicholson will serve out Karmanos’ term, which expires Dec. 31, 2018.

Nicholson is a senior executive with Detroit-based PVS Chemicals Inc., where he has worked since 1999. He serves as a board member for various community groups, including the Detroit Historical Society, Forgotten Harvest, Crime Stoppers of Southeastern Michigan and Kids Kicking Cancer.

Nicholson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.
