Fire tears apart Orchard Hill adult foster care home

No one was injured in a structure fire that broke out at the Orchard Hill adult foster care home on Chief Road at about 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. Fire crews were able to get the situation under control at about 7 p.m., and did not know the cause as of Tuesday night. All of the home’s 25 to 30 residents were transported to nearby adult foster care homes while the flame was being treated. Onekama Township, Maple Grove Township, Manistee Township, Dickson Township, and Bear Lake Township assisted with the response. The West Shore Medical Center and KND school district assisted with transportation by providing ambulances and school buses.
