Glen’s holds annual Fat Tuesday paczki eating contest

Contestants from area schools spent their Fat Tuesday at Glen’s on US-31 for the grocery’s annual paczki eating contest. A paczki is a jelly-filled donut and the store holds a yearly contest to see who can eat two the fastest and claim valuable prize money for their school. When it was all said and done, the Manistee County Intermediate School District walked away with $350, Manistee High School won $225, Jefferson Elementary won $100, and Trinity Lutheran and Kennedy Schools each won $50. Before the eating competition was the school cheerleading contest, where Jefferson Elementary students narrowly edged out the Manistee High School cheerleaders to win the $100 first place prize for that contest.
