Library board backing away from buy-outs

The Manistee County Library Board had been exploring offering retirement incentives to long-term employees in order to encourage them to make way for employees with more advanced degrees. But the after a firestorm of negative public reaction, complaints from staff, and the executive director’s assessment of what a buy-out would actually cost, the library board is rapidly backing away from the plan, saying that too much “heritage and history” would be lost.
