MANISTEE COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

Happy March! What a great week we had at the Senior Center. We said good-bye to Carol Greve with a big open house. A lot of friends and family attended and wished her well in her retirement. We had our first Game Day on Wednesday, and it was very fun. I learned a new game called “Pegs & Jokers.” We also had our first Popcorn & a Movie on Friday. I really enjoyed “Skyfall”; it was a very exciting movie with all of the action scenes. Thank you to everyone who came to participate in these new activities. With March here, our new senior walking group starts on Monday t 8:30 a.m. I will be at Manistee High School and will walk until 9:30 a.m. We will be walking Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Hope to see you there. We also have the Medicare/Baby Boomers informational meeting that was rescheduled to this Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. We have several casino trips in the making. The first one is April 3 & 4 to Kewadin Casino, in Sault Ste. Marie. Our bus is starting to fill up, so please call 231-723-6477 if you are interested in going on this trip. We have a lot of new events that will be starting around the Senior Center. Keep an eye out for some of the changes. I hope you have a great week.

The Senior Center Food Bank is Friday, March 8, from 1 p.m. -3 p.m. It is open to seniors 60 years or older, residents of Manistee County. No special income required for anyone who feels they need extra help with groceries. Donations are appreciated so that we can continue this program.

donations to the Manistee County Council on Aging are accepted and appreciated to help cover costs incurred for this service.

There are two new requests this year:

(1) we are asking everyone to stop in and pick up a list of documents which you will need to bring, and (2) we are asking everyone to please bring a picture ID at the time of your appointment. Please call the Manistee Senior Center (723-6477) to schedule your income tax appointment.
