Forbes: Quicken Loans’ Gilbert jumps on list of billionaires

Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert is ranked No. 384 on the Forbes list of worldwide billionaires, released Monday, jumping a whopping 470 rungs above his ranking last year.

According to Forbes, Gilbert’s net worth is $3.5 billion, up from $1.5 billion on the 2012 list.

Gilbert is one of a dozen Michiganders who made the list. The highest-ranking resident of the Wolverine state is Amway co-founder Richard DeVos, who’s No. 239 with $5.1 billion.

Metro Detroiters on the roster include shopping-center giant Alfred Taubman, No. 490 with $2.9 billion; Mike and Marian Ilitch, No. 527 with $2.7 billion; 5-hour Energy creator Manoj Bhargava, No. 974 with $1.5 billion; William Clay Ford Sr., Henry Ford’s last surviving grandchild and Detroit Lions owner, No. 1,161 with $1.25 billion; auto magnate Roger Penske, No. 1,175 with $1.2 billion; and Ambassador Bridge owner Manuel (Matty) Moroun, No. 1,268 with $1.1 billion.

Mexican telecommunications titan Carlos Slim Helu is the biggest billionaire on earth with $73 billion.
