Gonzaga No. 1 for first time; U-M, MSU drop in poll

Gonzaga attained a milestone Monday when it was voted No. 1 in the nation in the weekly Associated Press poll of writers and broadcasters.

Indiana is No. 2 and Duke third. Michigan, which lost to Penn State and beat Michigan State, fell three spots to No. 7 while the Spartans are No. 10 after losing three straight games.

Kansas was fourth and Georgetown, which received the two other first-place votes, was fifth.
