MANISTEE COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Spring is around the corner and I’m sure everyone is ready for it. We had our Senior Center Easter dinner on Tuesday and it seemed everyone was happy with the delicious ham dinner cooked by Sue and the gals. I enjoyed all of the food but my favorite was the homemade apple crisp. We had beautiful music played by Joy Smith during lunch. I want to thank her again. She really makes it feel like a party.

Bingo is always at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. We had a fun group this week. I hope everyone got enough prizes. Remember everyone is a winner at the senior center. On Wednesday, we are doing a white elephant bingo. If you are able, bring something you no longer want or need and someone else will be taking it home. Call the senior center to reserve your seat.

Just a reminder that we have another “popcorn and a movie” coming at 1 p.m. on Friday at the senior center. We are going to be viewing “Lincoln,” which got rave reviews from all of the critics. Please join in on the fun. We also have the famous senior center produce bingo at 11 a.m on Friday. Produce bingo is bingo, but the prizes are fresh vegetables, fruit, eggs and baked goods. It is so much fun. Call (231) 723-6477 and reserve your seat.

I have a list of our upcoming trips and hope I have something for everyone. The fliers and the information are at the senior center. Please contact Sarah at (231) 723-6477 for a copy of the list. I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and a great week.

MONTHLY COUNCIL ON AGING NEWSLETTER AVAILABLE

The Manistee County Council on Aging publishes a monthly newsletter that is available to everyone for the low cost of just $6.50 per year. The cost of the newsletter is very reasonable and barely covers the cost of postage alone. Included in each monthly issue is the senior center’s calendar of events and menu, the latest in Medicare information, senior center news bulletins, as well as some fun puzzles and favorite recipes.

This is a great way to keep up with what’s going on at the senior center and would make a nice gift for that special senior in your life. Many of our recipients are previous Manistee residents who just like to stay informed about life in Manistee.

Please call the senior center at (231) 723-6477 for more details or to sign up for the April issue.

MEDICAID

Gaye Fett is available to answer questions and assist with state Medicaid nursing home applications.
