POLICE BLOTTER: Deputies cite five with alcohol violations near Pine River

MANISTEE COUNTY — The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls Friday through Monday. All calls might not be reported.

Friday

  • At 12:15 p.m., deputies assisted with a brief civil stand-by at the 1700 block of Spruce Street in Wellston while a man removed his items from a house. The man and the homeowner had a court “no contact order” because of a prior domestic violence charge.
  • A two-car traffic crash was reported at 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of M-55 and Tippy Dam Road. The driver of an eastbound pickup truck reportedly had a seizure while driving and lost control of his vehicle, striking a westbound car. Two people were transported to the West Shore Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

Saturday

  • Deputies cited a 53-year-old Kaleva woman for failing to buy a dog license at 10:34 a.m.
  • An on-duty deputy spotted a truck pulling a kayak with a broken trailer light at 5:35 p.m. near Pine River at the Low Bridge access point. After the stop was made, it was determined that there was alcohol and four minors in the truck. A 21-year-old man from Belmont was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors while three 20-year-old men and one 20-year-old woman were charged with minor in possession. None were lodged, and all were given court appearance citations.
  • Deputies were dispatched at 8:33 p.m. to the intersection of 13 Mile and Litzen roads for a car/deer accident.

Monday

  • Deputies stopped a vehicle at 2:53 a.m. on Harris Road near East Lake Road and cited a 25-year-old for driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and an improper registration plate. His passenger, a 20-year-old woman, was charged with possession of marijuana and minor consuming alcohol. Neither were lodged, and both were given court appearance dates.
