Brower named Shelby State Bank commercial lender

MANISTEE – Shelby State Bank has announced that Steven G. Brower has joined the Bank as vice president and commercial lender.

“Steve is a well-known and respected commercial lender in Manistee,” said Mishelle M. Comstock, president and chief operating officer of Shelby State Bank. “He has extensive experience in business banking and is very involved and dedicated to the community. We are excited to have Steve join our experienced commercial lending team.”

Brower has been in the banking industry for over 35-years. He received his bachelor of science degree in business administration from Ferris State University and went on to obtain certification from the National Commercial Lending Graduate School at the University of Oklahoma. He is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.

Brower lives in Manistee with his wife Bev and is very active in the community, serving on the Manistee Oil and Gas Investment Board and the West Shore Medical Center Pension Board. He is also involved with the Historic Vogue Theatre of Manistee, the Manistee Main Street Downtown Development Authority and is an active member of the Manistee Rotary Club.

The Shelby State Bank opened its doors on Nov. 20, 1931. Today Shelby State Bank’s footprint includes its main office in Shelby as well as eight additional full-service banking facilities in five west Michigan counties. The Manistee branch, located at 1710 U.S. 31 South, was purchased from Honor Bank in April 2012.
