Senior Center News

I had the best week! I hope everyone was on pins and needles about the Tigers game. We had 51 people go see the Tigers last week in Detroit; we had a great time. The Tigers lost, but the game was tied until the last inning and then the Angels took the lead, so for eight innings it was anyone’s game. But we still had a fun trip. There was lots of traffic, but in a big bus who cares. Thank you to everyone who went on the trip. I had a blast.

We also had our big Forest Festival Kick-Off Picnic at Stronach Township Hall. What a great time! Virgil Baker and the “Just 4 Fun Band” played some really fun music. We had a lot of dancing and singing; everyone was singing along.  The delicious food was prepared by the Lions and Meals on Wheels. We had great prizes and raffles. Thank you to all of the businesses that helped with donations. Your contributions will help the Manistee County Council on Aging with our great programs.

I have a very long list of people to thank: Watson’s Manistee Chrysler, Comfort Keepers, Little River Casino Resort, Dr. Brenda McCann, Wendy’s, Super 8, St. Joseph Men’s Club, the Eagles and West Shore Health Connection. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and came to the party. I hope you had as much fun as I did.

We had our Produce Bingo on Wednesday because of the holiday, and we didn’t want to miss Jerre, our favorite caller. Thank you, Jerre — we are so lucky to have you at the Senior Center.

I’ll let everyone know how well we did next week for our “Old Bag Sale.” I know it will be a lot of fun and a big success. Thank you to everyone who donated purses, jewelry and scarves, and thank you to everyone who came to support the Manistee Senior Center.

I will keep everyone informed about fun at the Senior Center. I hope you have enjoyed the Forest Festival and had a safe holiday week. Remember to try something new.
