Employers invited to unemployment seminars

LANSING — Employers from across the state will have an opportunity to learn more about the unemployment insurance system and recent legislative changes affecting the unemployment insurance system at free seminars the Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is conducting around Michigan from July 15 to Oct. 8.

The seminars cover such topics as “How an Employer’s Tax Rate is Calculated,” “Working Part-time and Collecting Unemployment Benefits,” “UI Tax and Benefit Fraud,” “Pure Michigan Talent Connect,” the UIA’s new Michigan web account manager system and more. Each seminar runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Nearby seminars will be held July 30 at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Sept. 23 in Muskegon and Sept. 24 in Grand Rapids.

Employers can register to attend a seminar at www.michigan.gov/uia. Seminars can also be viewed live at the website.
