MANISTEE — The musical group Jen Sygit & the Lincoln County Process will perform for the Roots on the River concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at Veterans Memorial Park in Manistee.

Sygit, who performed solo at Roots on the River in 2007 and as a duo in 2010, will be playing with Sam Corbin, Geoff Ian Lewis and Joe VanAcker of the Lincoln County Process, a Lansing-based roots/blues band.

After years of touring as an acoustic duo, Jen and Sam expanded their collaboration, eventually forming the electric band they are today.

Sygit’s rapidly growing repertoire of original songs has surpassed many with its sophisticated lyrics and intense emotion. The Interlochen alumnus, while composing songs primarily on guitar, also plays old-time claw hammer banjo as well as the dobro.

Roots on the River continues every Thursday throughout August featuring The Moxie Strings on Aug. 15, The Crane Wives on Aug. 22 and Billy Strings & Don Julin on Aug. 29.

The concerts are free, but donations are accepted. The rain location is the Fifth Avenue Beach House.

The Manistee Jaycees have been awarded a mini-grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and NorthSky Nonprofit Network. The 2013 series would not be possible without this support.
