Lou and Barb Thierwechter celebrate 50th anniversary

Lou and Barb Thierwechter, of Allegan, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25 with mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church followed by a special renewal of vows. The Rev. Alan Jorgensen officiated.

Family and friends also met at Mill Grove Cemetery to release balloons in memory the couple’s son David and other family members. Dinner at Stella’s Restaurant in Allegan topped off the celebration with a powerpoint presentation highlighting 50 years of marriage.

Lou Thierwechter married Barb Korzeniewski on May 25, 1963, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee, with the Rev. Thomas Skuzinski officiating.

They have lived in Allegan since 1977 and have a son, John Thierwechter, living in Kalamazoo.

Lou is retired after working for numerous organizations including as an Allegan county commissioner and Allegan airport manager. Barb has also worked with several organizations and is currently a substitute para-pro for several schools.
