Seniors bring back medals

In a sprint for gold, three Manistee County residents recently returned from the 14th Annual Michigan Senior Olympics with medals around their necks. Held in Holland from Aug. 4 through 7, the Michigan Senior Olympics are open to men and women above the age of 55. Beverly Foster of Brethren, Warren Vaughan of Onekama, and Tom Wolf of Bear Lake individually finished in their respective events, collectively bringing home four medals.

Register for West Shore classes

If you are planning to attend West Shore Community College this fall, you may be able to beat the rush in getting your classes lined up. In addition to the early registration on campus, the college mobile unit known as “West Shore on Wheels” will be located in front of Coral Gables in Manistee Aug. 20 and 21 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Puppet show

The audiences at the Friday afternoon puppet shows at the Ramsdell Opera House are continuing to grow, even though many of the children are seeing the puppet shows for the second time. Tomorrow, Aug. 14, the show will be “One-eye, Two-eye, Three-eye.” This show has already been presented earlier in the season.
