Cross country medalists

Three Manistee student cross country runners came home with medals from the Ludington Invitational. Autumn Hansen (12th place in the varsity girls race), Leigh Jacobs (second place in the Open Division, Junior High), and Matt Keson (first place Junior High boys), and Ryan Tabaczka (13th in the varsity run).

Speeders beware

City Police want motorists to have fair warning that as the result of complaints they plan to pay particular attention to traffic on Maple Street, near the high school, on the lookout for speeders. Officers say they have received reports that there is much speeding on Maple Street particularly between Sixth Street and the city limits and youngsters going to and from school are being endangered.

80 YEARS AGO

Summer ends tomorrow

The “melancholy days are here” and summer will soon end its reign. Summer ends and fall officially begins tomorrow morning at 6:01 a.m. The change will mean no drastic change in the weather, since Manistee now is enjoying the first part of its temperate fall.

Sig Johnson to leave

Sigurd E. Johnson, for the past six years employed at the Mertens Drug Company as a pharmacist, has accepted a position with the pharmaceutical house of Eli Lilly and Company of Indianapolis, Ind. His successor is Al J. Donner of Detroit.
