Oliver Art Center calls for exhibit submissions

FRANKFORT— The Elizabeth Lane Oliver Art Center is looking for artists to submit art for its upcoming exhibit, “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment.”

The exhibit will be held from March 7 to April 11 in Honor of Women’s History Month.

This exhibit is open to all artists. Artists may bring up to two pieces of original artwork of any media that hasn’t been displayed previously at the art center. Two-dimensional artwork must be framed and ready to hang.

Drop off dates are at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 11 and noon to 4 p.m. on March 12. Entry fee is $10 per piece, or $5 for art center members.

The art center also is looking for stories, poems and memoirs honoring women, which will be read during an opening reception for the exhibit from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 7.

Writers can submit two poems or short stories, or one longer entry. All entries must be able to be read in under 10 minutes.

This is a very open and supportive event, and although entries will not be juried or curated, the art center reserves the right to choose what works will be read or not read based on their appropriateness for a broad public that could include children

There is no entry fee, no age limit and artists retain all rights to their work. Emailed entries must be received by March 3.

All works must be labeled on the first page with the writer’s name, mailing address, telephone number and email address to be considered
