Pleasanton Twp. seeking new site for landfill

Due to sales, and also State regulations, the Pleasanton Twp. Board is seeking a new site for solid waste. The regular Board meeting was held yesterday at the township hall with all members present. They discussed at this time with Charles Hejl the possibility of using his landfill facilities. Mr. Hejl will return to the Board meeting with his price and regulations.

School work on schedule

Construction at the elementary school on Bryant Ave. is progressing on schedule, according to John Anderson, clerk of the works. Anderson stated that approximately three-fourths of the structural steel is now in place and a crew of five bricklayers have begun work in the west end of the building.

Norwalk Church being renovated

Members of the congregation of the Norwalk American Lutheran Church, located north of Manistee on highway US-31 are proving that a little ingenuity, a desire to work, and a minimum of money can go a long way. Workmen started about two weeks ago to renovate the weather-stained and “meeting hall” type of construction of the church.

80 YEARS AGO

Movies at Kann’s

Movies showing steps in the manufacture of automobiles will be given tomorrow night at the A. Kann and Company’s showroom from 8 o’clock through 9:30. The public is invited.

Skating is fine

Many skaters took advantage of the fine day on the municipal ice rink on Manistee Lake yesterday, some cutting fancy figures, some playing hockey, others just skating. The caretaker reports the ice is 16 inches think.
