MAPS issues warning for student safety

MANISTEE — Manistee Area Public Schools officials are alerting students and parents of suspicious behavior that may impact student safety.

According to superintendent John Chandler, on Thursday afternoon, an individual in a gold minivan approached a MAPS student in a threatening manner.

“Please be on the lookout for a van matching this description, and call 9-1-1 if you see anything suspicious,” Chandler said in a statement.

As it is a half day today, Chandler asked parents to take safety precautions with children as they arrive home.
