Ludwig scores high in shoot

Cpl. Mike Ludwig, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ludwig, made the highest score in the annual pistol shooting contest at the St. Cloud Pistol Range, St. Cloud, Florida. 30 men took part and they are members of the Florida Highway Patrol.


“Clean Up” dates set

The first meeting of the “Paint Up, Fix Up, Clean Up” committee was held yesterday at the Board of Commerce and Judson King, general chairman, announced that May 2-8 would be the week to improve the appearance of Manistee, in connection with “Michigan Week” being observed at that time.

Road-e-o to be held

Preliminary plans to conduct a Teen-Age Road-e-o, driving contest for teenagers, were announced today by the Manistee Junior Chamber of Commerce. The local Road-e-o will be held on May 30.


Bridge jobs in region

Among the various projects in the six counties which comprise the Federal Re-employment Service Unit of which Ewald Knudstrup is district manager are the bridges at Ludington and the one at Wellston as well as other smaller bridge jobs. These include a bridge on US-10 at Evart, two bridges in Missaukee County, and a bridge approach on M-116 at Lincoln River and another at the Sauble River. Other projects pending in Manistee County are the Eastlake Water Works and the Ford Street School.
